Howl and Sophie – Flight of Fancy
So many people requested more walls of Howl’s Moving Castle in the 2011 Year of Studio Ghibli poll that I figured I better try and squeeze in a wallpaper of Howl before the year ends
This is one of my favorite scenes from the movie – watching it on the big screen just took my breath away. There is a very good reason why Miyazaki is so loved around the world – his films are pure magic.
Howl and Sophie’s outlines vectored off of this scan; the rest is painted with my trusty mouse. Eyeballed Makoto Shinkai for clouds reference, but overall kept things simple for this wall (as usual).

So I wont waste much time telling you that the wall is awesome and made me smile and all that jazz, instead I shall say that, since I missed this poll, I would really look forward to you doing a Porco Rosso wall, imagine it, all the planes, blue skies, the Italian islands and since its set in the 20′s you could experiment with the art deco style and whatnot…just my 2 cents though
Miyazaki love :3. Spirited Away will always top my faves list, but Howl definitely has a place in my childhood fantasies >w<.
Thanks so much – I love reading your comments! Betty, you idea for the Porco Rosso wall is AWESOME – I’m totally adding that to my running list of walling ideas
I’m trying to crank out some more walls this week, but if I don’t get the chance to say this before I leave for vacation – thanks so much for all your support this year! Merry Christmas & happy New Year!
Cheers Flyin, and a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to both you and Jay and all your friends and families, may we have with good health, fortune and more awesome walls in the coming year!
P.S for you Flyin, hint hint nudge nudge http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pz1rjq5emKY
