I LOVE Miyazaki. Quote Wiki:

Nausicaä’s affinity with the wind was inspired by translations of European geography books from the Middle Ages, where mastery of the wind was described as “witchcraft” and was feared and respected. Mills were described in these books as being used for “pushing sand dunes or grinding grain”, which left an impression on Miyazaki. Inspired by the Earthsea cycle of Ursula LeGuin, Miyazaki coined the term kaze tsukai (風使い) as an alternative to Guin’s “Master Windkey”, which was translated into Japanese as kaze no shi (風の司) (lit. one who controls the wind).

I started out with Art Deco inspirations with the outlineless vectors (Nausicaa was vectored from this scan), then veered away with the doodled background design, but finally managed to bring some Art Deco notes back into the wall with the color scheme/fontage/patterns, and rounded out the wall with a very light paper texture. As with my previous Art Deco attempt, I was really inspired by Tama, specifically her Art Deco Travelogue series. Miyazaki’s works lend well to the theme of traveling, so I definitely want to try this theme and style out again :D

this has to be one of your finest works, the simplicity of it combined with the complex detail of the art deco is just lovely to look at and brings some great light into my room when its on the desktop
