I am such a Tsubasa fangirl. But then again, I’m also a huge CLAMP fangirl so it’s no wonder really

Basically wanted to try juxtaposing and transitioning warm and cool colors, so I started messing around with color overlays over this scan. The result worked out surprisingly well… it’s really amazing how different colors can totally change the mood and tone of an image I also motion blurred the rocks to add more dynamic movement to the wall, and that’s it. Occasionally I come across scans that are practically perfect as is, and this is definitely one of those kinds of images for me… as is so much of CLAMP’s work urgh!

I could’ve sworn that someone had made a wall with this exact scan with an abstract light burst in the bg, but when I went to look for it I couldn’t find it, so I’m not sure now if I just imagined the whole thing. Anyways, Gids was super excited over the “Old School” theme for Clash, and I realized that I started walling right around the time when swirly abstract walls were starting to go out of fashion – so I’ve never actually made a “real” old school wall before. So when she was like “Do it!” I was like “OK!” I was at a bit of a loss at first, but I googled up this abstract lighting tutorial and followed half of it before adding in other popular old school techniques like render clouds, radial blur, stock blending and so forth.

The original scan was actually really grainy, so I smudged the crap out of it before slapping on a light screentone pattern + bokeh stock over the entire wall. Yeah, I know I could’ve vectored the boys, but then it wouldn’t be a real “old school” wall The text is obviously another old school touch, but I’ve zipped up a textless version of this wall – which looks much better for 1600 and 1280 res, I think. This teddy was actually a doodle that I thought could turn into a potential entry for the final round of MTK, but I couldn’t get the background to come together before the deadline and ended up with some Hokusai goodness instead. Teddy turned out too well for me to scrap him completely though, so luckily I had a new brainwave for the background and can now post him up with something that looks semi-decent. And actually, this wall makes me feel pretty nostalgic whenever I look at it

Everything was vectored from scratch, although I eyeballed this stock photo by doko-stock for reference; origami pattern in teddy’s scarf is from IllusionOfPerfection’s origami texture pack, clouds in the window are from Mayang, and the swirl brush is from ro-stock’s awesome brush pack… which I also used in my Aria wall

Right, so! COLLAB WITH FLYINDREAMS SHE IS MY HOMEBRO. This is for Pool Party‘s first round, which was something along the lines of “Wall a Month.” As I write this, I’m realizing we didn’t actually decide on a month. . . Well! That aside, we actually have two collabs, the other we restarted though. It is also a Sayonara, Zetsubou Sensei wall. I guess you could call it a sister wall. Or a brother wall. . .

Inspiration ♥’s + Simple-ism + Mathiole

In honor of Durarara!! Day on Japanator and Drrr!! episode 4 (the one that made me go OOOH YES, I DIG THIS SERIES MUCH), I thought I’d toss this quick wall together. Simple and super minimalistic, just the way I like it!

Celty’s helmet vectored from this scan, and I also snuck a barely visible Izaya and Shizuo onto the helmet’s visor lol!

Final MTK entry… To be honest, I struggled quite a bit with the “goodbye” theme because conceptually it was really similar to what I did for my round 2 entry. So I decided to go with something a bit more original and personal. Over the last 6 months I’ve uprooted my life and touched down in several different countries… and I’ll be moving again soon. So the buildings are vectored from Stock.XCHNG photos of two different cities that I’ve lived in. The rest of it should be fairly self-explanatory. Per wiki, (paper) cranes are symbols for peace, so I thought including the cranes would bring a nice bit of poetic irony to this wall Not much else to add apart from the fact that the minimalism is very much intentional ♥.

This is my wall for 120 War Round 5, spruced up. I loved this scan because it reminded me soo much of rythem-chan‘s (or loveariddle‘s) original artwork – and she really liked using masterjinn‘s resources for her backgrounds. So that’s basically what I did here – used three textures and a pattern from masterjinn, plus a pink diagonal pattern from AppendixSquared for the background. I actually really love the result, because it’s so fruity and unapologetically girly

/ entry for MT K.O. Round 3. I added a dark version pack for people who don’t like the white background, but to be honest most of the non-white colors I had tried out for the background looked pretty crappy

Also, got part of the frame and general inspiration off this lovely Mucha scan (from Dansmuseet), then topped it all off with paper and stone textures from Mayang and Stock.XCHNG, as well as a smoke texture from Resurgere.
