Organizers' Announcements

The results for the last round are out!
Before going any further, we would like to say that the level for this round was extremely high, and many wallpapers were really good.
So, the winner of round 3, awarded with the title of legend of the W.A.R is...
err... weellll.. uhm ok we have 2 >_>

Yes you heard it right. 2 wallpapers scored the exactly same overall score. With 8.40, we are honored to say that ayaki and kuroimisa win the third round, and are hereby awarded the title of Legend of the W.A.R.

Actually, we tried to decide if there was away to break the tie, but we discovered we had exactly 3 judges favoring each wallpaper scoring-wise. Then we tried to look for critics, and we found out that without the description both wallpapers are slightly out of theme since they do not express that much the theme if you don't know the background. The Shunpei wallpaper has been accused of being a little too psychedelic, while the Paradise Kiss wallpaper looks honestly just romantic if you don't know the anime/manga.

So.. in the end.. we decided to tie them. Congratulations!

Now, it's time to finally award the other titles as well

The title of Unyielding Hero of the W.A.R is awarded to ayaki, for having the highest overall average of scores during the whole three rounds. ayaki scored the highest overall average of 7.93 over three rounds due her extremely high performance in the first and third individual rounds. Congratulations!

The title of Virtuoso of the W.A.R. (most original wallpaper in the W.A.R.) is awarded to kuroimisa. She scored 3.35 on her first round wallpaper, but well.. she actually beat herself in the third round. With an impressive average of 3.53, she certainly deserves the title. Congratulations!

The title of Artisan of the W.A.R. (most skillfully made wallpaper in the W.A.R.) is awarded to Tama-Neko. Her wallpaper in the first round racked in an amazing 2.8 average in technique, thus granting her the title. Congratulations!

The title of Muse of the W.A.R. (most expressive wallpaper in the W.A.R.) is awarded to OracleAngel. His wallpaper from the first round scored an average of 2.65 in expression, the highest score of the W.A.R: contest. As such, he is awarded this title. Congratulations!

And now it is time for some thanks and considerations.

First things first, we would like to thank all the participants, all the judges and all the people who even merely followed the contest. Without all of you this wouldn't have been possible at all. That everyone put so much passion and so much work in this contest truly makes us happy and proud. We really feel like this was something different. So, we want to thank you all. *Bows deeply*

Secondly, as in all contests, there are those who win and there are those who lose. However, we hope from our very hearts that you will all remember this contest as a fun and even maybe precious event. We tried to put our best into organizing it, and we feel our work was repaid. We would like to remind you all the slogan of this constest: to create a Revolution. To breathe some new, fresh air in the wallpaper world. We feel that this objective was reached beyond our hopes. Many of the wallpapers submitted were original, and many artists had to learn and try new things in order to create their wallpapers. Regardless of the scores awarded we would like you all to remember: it's better to fail a glorious undertaking rather than succeeding in a menial task. Once again, our sincere thanks *Bows deeply*

Finally, I would like to leave a personal thought, and I am sure many of the judges and organizers feel this way too. Through this contest, I got to know many new people, and I really had fun with everyone. I would like to thank everyone, for being so much fun to be with during this contest, and for being my friends.

So W.A.R. has ended, and we now pass the baton to other contests. May they inspire artists to reach new heights. And who knows... if we ever have time again....

Did you make it this far down the page? Good job! :D

As a truly obsessive events organizer both online and offline... The glorious feeling of pulling off an event successfully for me is often followed by a fair period of mourning and sadness. I often wonder how much these events really *matter* in the grand scheme of things, and how much they're worth once they're over... since they can only really stay as spark of memories. One glorious flash and it's all over before you know it.

Unlike many other events that I've organized, the artistic record of the W.A.R. left by all the participants is really quite stunning. For all the drama, arguments, and insomnia that inevitably tags along with organizing such a massive event like this, I'm left with so many new online friends, great memories of laughter and excitement... and of course inspiration. I've never been so inspired as I was while organizing this event. So... huge thanks to all the participants *hugs* it's been truly awesome, to look at your works and admire all the creative effort that's gone into them... *sighs*

Apart from all the participants, huge list of people to thank... @_@ First and foremost, the six judges of the W.A.R... candy-chan, Furikuu, Keltosh, ShiNN, shinta, and tAtEkAnE... I've really enjoyed getting to know most of you better <3 Keep in touch, please. Secondly, Keltosh, for being a wonderful judge AND the best co-organizer I could ever hope for... <333 I love you nii-san :) And then there's rockiee, my partner/coder-in-crime for the site... XD At horrible times you kept me sane... *big hug* and sakii, for helping organize this mad event at the beginning, recruiting judges, coming up with the round 1 theme AND letting us steal her blog space for months and months... Much thanks sakii :)

...cheers to the round 1 commentators... sakii, rockiee, tantiee... (and me too actually :P), as well as the group administrators who got the teams together and cheered them on... :) The W.A.R. would not have been half as glorious without all of your efforts. :) Lastly... to Rebel-Soul-Kaze, I gotta say thank-you even though you disappeared... before you came I honestly did NOT envision W.A.R. to become this gloriously massive six-group event... :D Thank you for making me push the limits of possibilities and insanity...

Now I'm sadly wondering what I'm going to do without my favorite procrastination activity... T_T I'm really going to miss doing W.A.R. so much...

...stay inspired and creative :) keep in touch for sure! Love to you all... And again... may the revolution flourish :D
