a-WallpaperRevolution, Simple-ism and Aspiring Mafia proceed to round 2

Before proceeding to a in-depth review of each match we would like to thank everyone who participated in the first round. The response was excellent, we honestly didn't dare to hope for such a magnificent participation.

A note on scoring: the scores were put in a excel spreadsheet and considered to the 2nd decimal. So, due to approximation, the total scores might not be the precise results of the sum of the other three scores. Still, they've been checked multiple times and are correct.

a-WallpaperRevolution 4 - 2 TheUnderappreciated

The Underappreciated put up a fair fight but eventually had to bow to a-WallpaperRevolution, due to some bad luck during the drawing of the pairs. Still there are some worthy wallpapers submitted by The Underappreciated, especially kuroimisa's "With Love". This wallpaper got the highest originality score by far which makes it a definite contestant for the Virtuoso of W.A.R. award, and is also the third score amongst the excluded participants, so kuroimisa may win a special pass to the third individual round!

Simple-ism 3 - 3 NewWaveProject

What a riveting match! Many scores were really close! Fate decided that Tama-Neko and DernierCri had to slug it out, and just look at their scores! They did indeed! In the end, Tama-Neko prevailed by a mere 0.08 (and with the highest technique score of this round), but the groups were tied at 3-3. So we totalled the average scores of all the members, and Simple-ism won 41.3 to 41.08. Still, look out for DernierCri, as his score is the first amongst the excluded participants and you will most likely see him again in the third individual round.

Morphine's scent 3 - 4 Aspiring Mafia

Another extremely close match! Morphine had to put up with the retirement of one member, but is composed of extremely experienced artists, and so put up a good fight! Vital to Aspiring Mafia's win was the tie (to the 6th decimal!) between biriwilg and zephiris26, as well as ayaki's "Lost in love", which got the highest total score of the whole round. A note of merit to OracleAngel, who got the highest expression score of the round, and also scored the second highest score amongst the participants, which makes for good chances of being awarded a pass to the third individual round.

As for the top scores in each category:

Originality: kuroimisa with 3.35
Technique: Tama-Neko with 2.8
Expression: OracleAngel with 2.65

Total: ayaki with 8.25
